Church Family News
Anna Mae Grit is responding positively to therapy and is able to walk better. Continue to be in prayer for AnnaMae and Don as they anticipate major surgery to remove a tumor in the brain this week Thursday.
Be in prayer for Marilyn Helder. She has been experiencing a general weakness and loss of appetite. Doctors are running tests to determine the cause of her problem.
Jean Vonk returned home after successful surgery. We are thankful for a significant reduction in the pain Jean has been experiencing in past months. Recovery from surgery is expected to take at least three months during which she needs to wear a full-body cast most of the time. Continue to pray for a full recovery.
We express our sympathy to Ken and Bertie Agema in the death of their grandson, Chris Agema, age 25. We pray that God will comfort and sustain Ken and Bertie and their family in the days to come.

We are thankful to report that Carol Brinks mother, Marie Venema, has regained considerable strength over the past week. She and her family appreciate your continued prayers. She is no longer experiencing any pain and is enjoying strengthening of her voice.

KINGDOM SEEKERS All girls from 3rd 8th grade, meet in the Activity Building at 7 p.m. on Wednesday for our kick-off.
POST HIGH/YOUNG ADULT BIBLE STUDY will meet next Sunday after the evening service. We will continue to look at medical issues and reproduction. Check out the small pamphlet in the back of church. NOTE: This was also handed out two months ago.

Our SCHOOL SOCIETY COLECTIONS for the 2009-2010 school year were $52,546.22. We had budgeted for $54,000.00. We would like to thank the congregation for their generous giving this year.

RYS' Midwest high school retreat will be held September 24-25 at Maranatha Conference Center in Muskegon, D.V. Rev. Greg Lubbers of Covenant URC will be the featured speaker. Cost is $45.00 per person. Registration deadline is Monday, September 20.
Reformed Single Adults (RSA) will be having its fall kickoff on Thursday, Sept. 16 at Tunnel Park in Holland at 6:30 pm. Please bring your own meat to grill - we'll provide the rest. RSA is a West Michigan area wide ministry to single adults from a Reformed perspective. Beginning in October, we will meet in the fellowship room of Bethany URC in Wyoming on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of each month beginning at 7:30 pm. The Cornerstone Womens Conference Committee would like to thank all the ladies who attended the conference last March at Cornerstone United Reformed Church. Our speaker for 2011 will be Mary Beth McGreevy. She is a member of the Presbyterian Church in America, and is a frequent speaker for womens retreats and conferences. The dates for the conference are March 18-19, 2011. Prayerfully consider joining us and invite your lady friends and family to save this date. Dr. Nelson Kloosterman will be presenting a reformation lecture entitled Semper Reformanda: Transforming a Shibboleth into a Vision at Covenant United Reformed Church Byron Center, located at 58 100th St., Byron Center, MI, 49315 on October 20 at 7:30. In his lecture, Dr. Kloosterman will discuss how the proverb Always Reforming can be a destructive tool or a liberating vision offering ways of avoiding the former and pursuing the latter.
Calvin Christian Squire Run: Come join us on September 18 at 10:00 a.m. at Grandville High School's track to walk/run and help raise funds for the athletic program at Calvin Christian. You can help by either sponsoring an athlete or picking up a pledge sheet in the high school office and collecting your own pledges. Everyone is welcome, and there are refreshments available following the event.
Zion Christian School: Mark your calendars for our 10th annual Mountaineer Golf Outing at Diamond Springs Golf Course on Saturday, September 18. Registration is at 7:30am with play beginning at 8:00am. Cost is $100 for adults and $75 for students. Cost includes 18 holes of golf, golf cart, and lunch. Church Family News
AnnaMae Grit is scheduled to have surgery for a cancerous brain tumor on September 2. She is currently at Spectrum Rehab. She continues to improve as she undergoes therapy. Her address is 4118 Kalamazoo SE, Room 512, Grand Rapids, MI.
Jean Vonks back surgery went well and her initial recovery is going according to expectations. Jean is thankful that pain is under control. She will be in the hospital for a few more days and will also be undergoing therapy. Pray for continued healing in the weeks to come.
Gen Buist remains at Brookcrest where she is in a program of therapy. There continues to be slow progress. Her condition is stable but it looks like she will need nursing care for the long term.
Gerrit Bultenas treatments continue and we are thankful for some positive results. Gerrit is especially thankful that there is not as much pain as before.
Also remember Jan Kuipers and Elias Estrella as they continue treatments. The treatments seem to be going well. Continue to pray for these long-term needs.
Carol Brinks mother, Marie Venema, has returned to Byron Manor where she is under Hospice Care. Pray for her and Bruce and Carol as they watch over and care for her.
Thank you so much, from the Haagsman Family, for all the cards with caring messages of condolences, the delicious food and cookies and the visits at the funeral home. Thank you, too, for visits at Faith Hospice when Jack was still on this earth, but who is now in heaven, to praise the Lord forever, and sing I am a child of the King and what could we wish better for Jack?
